FINNISH HAPPINESS, DESIGNED FOR EVERYDAY LIFE

Kauniste is a Helsinki-based lifestyle brand founded in 2008.

We create colourful goods for everyday life, inspired by Finnish happiness — the simple pleasures, small rituals and moments that make the everyday special.

Our collections bring together hand-drawn patterns, original colour combinations and the art of visual storytelling. We collaborate with illustrators and visual artists, with original artworks beginning by hand through drawing, painting, paper cutting and different illustration techniques.

Each pattern tells its own story, bringing a little piece of Finnish happiness into everyday life.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

In autumn 2009, we introduced our first collection of screen-printed kitchen towels during Helsinki Design Week. Each towel was printed by hand in carefully mixed colour combinations.

The idea was simple: to bring the work of young illustrators from art prints into everyday life, starting with the humble kitchen towel. Since then, Kauniste has grown from kitchen textiles into a wider collection of fabrics, home goods and accessories, while staying true to that original idea — bringing visual art into the objects we use every day.
